As a creative individual, there’s nothing more fulfilling than working on a project that brings people together from all over the world to create something magical. That’s exactly what I had the privilege of doing as the artistic director of Dreambird, a theatre performance for children that emphasizes the beauty of diversity and the importance of cooperation in the animal kingdom.

Our crew was made up of young adults from nine different nations, each bringing their unique perspectives and talents to the table. Together, we spent one and a half weeks rehearsing, crafting costumes, practicing makeup (have you ever tried to paint a polar bear or raindeer on peoples’ faces 😀 ) , and building the set. It was a whirlwind of creativity and collaboration, with ideas flowing freely and evolving constantly.

As we worked on modifying the original script, we made sure to highlight not only the diversity of our crew but also the diversity of the animal world. We wanted to show that only through cooperation between all the different creatures could the magic of nature and the beauty of the every day be achieved. Lookin back on the process, it is crazy how we came up with all these ideas which in the end made perfectly sence: adding a song, accompanying the main animals with dancers and starting to juggle nuts on stage. We even ended up with a hole in the middle of our set representing the owl hole in a tree.

Yesterday, we had the chance to perform Dreambird for children and adults from the community. The claps, laughs, and glowing eyes of the excited children were a huge reward for the whole team. The overwhelmingly positive comments from the adults were the cherry on top. It was a truly magical experience to see the world we had created come to life on stage.

Dreambird was more than just a theatre performance – it was a celebration of diversity, cooperation, and creativity. And I can’t wait to see what other projects the future holds for our multicultural team! Definitely an unforgettable time.Â
