What an event! Three months after coming back from my time in India, I got the chance to reflect on this exciting time. Conducting interviews, fighting my way through the Mumbai traffic to fetch some more B-role material, relaxing at an Indian Classical Music night… The discussion during the Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival reflected on several of these experiences. However, it didn’t just provide me with an opportunity to reflect on my exciting experience, but I also had the chance to establish new connections with creative and incredibly talented filmmakers.

It was January when I heard the joyful news: my documentary was selected to be featured at the Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival. Now I am sitting here, a huge screen behind my back, answering the questions that are alternatingly asked by filmmaker and screenwriter Roma Sur and the audience. With me on the panel are several other great filmmakers from all over the US. Making films in order to tell a story, to inspire people, to give new viewpoints. Our answers to the last question, “Why are you producing films?” asked by a little girl, build on each other pretty nicely. Other questions dive deeper into the individual topics of our films as well as their production and I get a chance to share my experience uncovering sustainable initiatives in Bollywood – behind the scenes and on screen.

A couple of minutes later, I find myself on the red carpet outside the film theatre – of course, with printed dragon heads on the red surface. We end the event with some obligatory filmmaker pictures. I am definitely looking forward to next year’s Dragon Boat film festival!
